Schools as Community Centres (SaCC)

Woodberry Place of Friends

Woodberry Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) is known locally as "Place of Friends."

We are a school based local community centre supporting families with children from birth to 8 years with a focus on those with 0- 5 year olds, living in Woodberry, Beresfield, Tarro and surrounding communities.

We work in partnership with other government and non-government organisations to provide families with information and support.

We welcome the involvement of families from diverse backgrounds and the participation of community members in the planning and provision of activities that will strengthen the community.

We offer a range of activities and programs for parents and carers to promote healthy, happy families and give children a positive start to school.

Welcome Danielle McLaughlin (Danni)

We would like to warmly welcome Danielle McLaughlin (Danni) to the role of Facilitator at Woodberry Place of Friends, commencing late Term 3, 2024. Danni comes to us with experience supporting young parents to access support and services and has worked in children’s disability and youth work.

Please say hello to Danni when you see her around!

Farewell Amy

To all my dear Place of Friends Families,

I wanted to take a moment to share some news with you if you haven’t heard already. After seven and a half years here in Woodberry, I’ve made the tough decision to move on. These years have been incredibly meaningful, and it’s been an honour to work with you and your family. The connection we’ve built and the trust you’ve placed in me mean a great deal, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to support you during this time.

Being a part of your family’s journey, helping navigate challenges, and celebrating your successes has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work. It’s been a privilege to stand by your side, and I’ve cherished every moment we’ve spent working together.

Now, I’m stepping into a new role where I can advocate for families on a broader scale, helping to shape the policies and programs that impact communities across NSW. While I’m excited about this opportunity to make a difference at a higher level, I know that saying goodbye to you and your family will be one of the hardest parts of this transition.

Always remember - Do the best with what you've got, when you've got more, do better!
